Documents Required

Both the applicant and a representative from the religious order or denomination in Denmark must complete sections of the application form. To ensure smooth processing, it is recommended to gather all required documents before submission.

Documents Required from the Applicant:

• Completed RF1 Application Form, signed and filled out.
• Proof of fee payment, including a receipt.
• Copy of all pages of your passport, including blank pages and the front/back cover.
• Proof of relevant background, training, and/or education for the religious role.
• Vow declaration regarding Danish law (Appendix 1).
• Sworn declaration regarding criminal offences (Appendix 2).
• Sworn declaration regarding public assistance (Appendix 3).
• Proof of application for marriage authorization, if performing weddings.
• Biometric registration, including a digital facial image and fingerprints.

Documents Required from the Religious Order/Denomination in Denmark:

• Official description of the applicant’s work, outlining duties, responsibilities, and religious functions.
• Confirmation that the religious order is officially recognized by the Danish Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs or Department of Family Affairs.
• Signed employment contract or invitation letter, detailing the duration of stay and role of the applicant.

For members of a monastic or religious order, the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (Folkekirken) or another officially sanctioned religious denomination must confirm the legitimacy of the order.

Visa Extension and Renewal

Extending a Religious Worker Visa

• Applications for visa extensions must be submitted before the current residence permit expires.
• The applicant must pass an extension test and complete a mandatory course on Danish family law, individual rights, and democracy.
• Failure to submit an extension on time may result in an automatic rejection of the application and the need to apply from the applicant’s home country.

• Proof of completion of the Danish family law, individual rights, and democracy course.
• Updated employment contract or continued religious work invitation.

Important Notes

• Applications may be rejected if the applicant is listed on Denmark’s national sanction list of banned religious preachers.
• The religious order must ensure compliance with Danish immigration laws to avoid legal penalties.
• The residence permit does not automatically authorize the performance of legal marriages—applicants must apply separately for marriage authorization.
• If applying as a missionary, the work must be affiliated with an officially recognized religious denomination.
• The Danish Immigration Service may request additional documentation or clarification during the application process.

• Color: Must be in color with a bright background
• Quality: Clear, high resolution, and free from shadows or reflections
• Expression: Neutral facial expression with eyes open and mouth closed
